NEWBRIDGE AFFORDABLE HOUSING SCHEME –HULL

Burgess Associates were part of an Electrical Contractors team whom we have worked alongside for many years and on this project assisted in the negotiation and agreement of Subcontract terms and conditions which were fair to all parties involved.

As the project progressed we issued all Extension of Time Notices and secured recovery of associated costs for our client.

Keeping a close working relationship with our client ensured the project has been commercially managed to a successful outcome for all.

‘Burgess Associates have assisted us with the commercial aspects of our growing business for many years. Initially Burgess Associates offered advice and worked on individual projects as required. More recently Burgess Associates has had input into our sub-contract orders, revised standard terms with many of our clients and works with us on a weekly basis on our major projects. Burgess Associates commercial knowledge and assistance has been invaluable to the growth and development of our business.’

YORK MANSION HOUSE

Burgess Associates were contacted by the Electrical Contractor on this restoration project who was been put under commercial pressure by the Principal Contractor on the project. This pressure came in the form of contra charges and set off costs.

A quote from our client;

‘Yorvik Electrical Contractors would have no hesitation in suggesting Burgess Associates to anyone we felt needed the specialist services they provide.

Burgess Associates were recommended to us by another of their clients and we can honestly say contacting them was defiantly a good decision.

We contacted Burgess associates after hitting a brick wall negotiating a settlement of a contract with a client to whom we were a sub-contractor. They took total control of the situation, took time to understand our position and exactly what was needed, and after reviewing of all the information we had on the case from both sides, recommended an achievable solution.

They arranged a face to face meeting with all concerned and were able to settle the case without animosity on either side.’

We were very happy with all aspect of the service we received including the very reasonable fees, we have already recommended Burgess Associates to many of our business friends and would have no hesitation in using them again in the future.

Mike Frew – Director  – Yorvik Electrical

Burgess Associates carried out a review of the costs set off and engaged with the Principal Contractor and assisted with the amicable resolution of the account and fair payment.

As a follow on to this the Decorating contractor on the project also instructed us to carry out a very similar role for them. We assisted with the amicable resolution and payment. A quote from our client is below

“Burgess Associates assisted us in resolving two significant Final Accounts.  On both occasions, our then clients attempted to put costs onto us which we and Burgess Associates deemed unreasonable  in accordance with the subcontract.

Account 1            Final Account £69k.  Client attempted to put LAD’s & contra-charges on us bringing our account down to £18k. Burgess Associates ended up getting us £65.5k.

Account 2            Final Account £27k.  Client inexplicably attempted to levy costs for “redoing our works”.  Burgess Associates settled the account at £25.5k.
