YORK COLLEGE CONSTRUCTION AND ENGINEERING CENTRE EXTENSION

York College Construction and Engineering Centre new extension has been constructed to play and important part in addressing the countries construction skills shortages.

The building was completed in the 38 week time frame and on budget. Within the building are joinery and bricklaying workshops along with CAD Suite and a multi functional Engineering and Product Design Workshop for 3D modelling and prototyping.

The MEP services in the building include PV, Air source Heat Pumps and natural ventilation heat recovery units all contributing to the aim of establishing a Carbon Neutral facility.

Burgess Associates provided the full Quantity Surveying service throughout the works including procurement, change control, Applications for payment right through to Final Account agreement on behalf of our long term client.

CEADMON HALL – LEEDS BECKETT UNIVERSITY

Caedmon Hall is part of Leeds Beckett University and has been sensitively refurbished by our client who acted as principal contractor and MEP Services specialist installer. The building will be the new home of Carnegie School of Education and provided high quality teaching and research space for both staff and students.

Burgess Associates were engaged to assist with pre commencement change control including quantification and costing of all MEP Design changes. From this we then undertook the full project Quantity Surveying role for our client assisting with procurement, change control, activity schedule and progress payments, cost and cash flow, site progress and Earned Value analysis.

After this project we are proud to be moving to our next project with our long term client.

NOTTINGHAM COLLEGE HUB

The City Hub is part of Nottingham College and the city’s Southern Gateway scheme. It will include workspace for businesses to encourage the linking of students and local businesses, a new training restaurant, café and performing arts centre as well as modern teaching space.

Burgess Associates were part of the Principal Contractors team constructing this new College Hub.

We had worked alongside this Principal Contractor on previous projects and also assisted on the Hub with procurement of the MEP packages.

This project is a good example of how we become part of our client’s business and form long term relationships moving from project to project.
